Flavorful Cigars
Fine cigars are one of life’s little pleasures. It gives you a moment to slow down time and relax, or celebrate special moments. Our Baraboo Liquor Store offers a walk in humidor full of fresh-kept choices. At our Lake Delton Liquor Store you’ll find a large humidor cabinet which contains a very nice select assortment.
Quality cigars are still handmade to this day. A cigar-roller who is experienced can make hundreds of nearly identical cigars each day. Once rolled they are stored in wooden forms to dry and their uncapped ends are cut to a uniform size. From there it can be “laid down” and aged for decades if temperatures are kept near 70 °F, with about 70% relative humidity. Once purchased, it is best to use proper storage which is typically best done in a special wooden humidor.
Some, especially premium brands, uses assorted varieties of tobacco for the filler and the wrapper. Long filler cigars are of a far higher quality and use long leaves throughout. These also use a third kind of tobacco leaf called a “binder” placed between the filler and the outer wrapper. This allows the makers to use more attractive and delicate leaves as a wrapper. These types of high-quality cigars usually blend varieties of tobacco to incorporate several different flavors.
In machine-made and low-grade cigars chopped tobacco leaves are used for the filler. Long leaves or a type of “paper” made from tobacco pulp mixture is used for the wrapper to alter the burning characteristics of the cigar as opposed to handmade cigars.
